Imaging for Windows
release 4.0
Transform your paper documents into digital image files with Imaging
for Windows
Imaging for Windows enables you to easily transform your paper-based
documents so that they can be electronically viewed, edited, OCR'd, emailed,
posted to or downloaded from the Internet.
You may be familiar with Imaging for Windows from an earlier version of the
Microsoft® Windows operating system. If you are now using Windows Vista® or
Windows® XP and seek the familiar Imaging for Windows capabilities, or if you
are a software developer who needs to integrate imaging functionality within
your application, Global 360 Imaging for Windows is for you.
Global 360 Imaging for Windows 4.0 delivers desktop imaging functions in a
single, easy-to-use application that enables users to scan, edit and store
paper-based documents. With Imaging for Windows, users can easily convert
paper-based information into digital documents that can be viewed, edited, OCRd,
distributed via email, and posted to or downloaded from the Internet.
Compatible with Microsoft® Windows Vista® and Windows® XP, Imaging for
Windows 4.0 introduces a range of new features that enable greater efficiency
and productivity, most notably the ability to view and print PDF files and a new
Multiple Document Interface (MDI) within the application viewer that lets you
display multiple documents at the same time, with each document displayed in its
own window. This enables you to work on different document types using a common
viewing platform. For example, you can view both a TIFF image from a scanning
application and a PDF document on the same screen at the same time.

=========================================================================================================
Imaging for Windows® scans paper documents into electronic documents that you can view, edit,
OCR, distribute and manage on networks, intranets, and the Internet. Imaging for Windows is the upgrade
to the industry-standard document imaging software included in Microsoft Windows
95, 98, ME, Windows
NT and Windows 2000 and is suitable for Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista.
Global 360 Imaging for Windows replaces, and is compatible with, the Wang Imaging for Windows
(wangimg.exe) included in Windows
95 and NT and the Kodak Imaging for Windows (kodakimg.exe) and Imaging
Preview (kodakprv.exe) in Microsoft Windows 98 and 2000 (sometimes known as Microsoft
Windows Imaging).
Imaging for Windows software eliminates the manual entry and re-entry, printing, photocopying,
and distribution of paper-based documents common to much day-to-day work.
Desktop scanning and the Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
software included in Imaging for Windows replace manual entry; and replaces endless photocopying and
distribution of documents. Imaging annotation does
away with paper memos and stick on notes. Imaging for Windows views TIF and other image formats.
Imaging for Windows also comes with an advanced Flow feature that automates the entire
process of scanning, enhancing, converting, routing, indexing, and storing
documents, faxes, and network images with a single mouse click. And it supports
document image management with ODMA-compliant document management systems through Flow-based image indexing and storage; image
check out, editing and check in; and image browsing and search and retrieval.
Global 360 Imaging for Windows
was formerly known as Kodak or Wang Imaging Professional or Imaging for Windows.
Key Features of Imaging for Windows
With Imaging for Windows, users can:
- Capture images (as TIFF files) using any TWAIN-compliant scanners to Imaging.
(Windows compatible scanners are required). Scanner manufacturers include
Kodak, Fujitsu and Canon.
- View or Edit images.
- Enhance scanned documents and images automatically using a variety of tools,
including straighten and align page, de-speckle, and cropping.
- Add Annotation to scanned documents and faxes using the colour highlighter, rubber stamps, lines,
text blocks, redacting, and sticky notes.
- Display and manage images using thumbnails.
- OCR images using the built-in Optical Character Recognition engine.
- Use Flow to automate the capture, processing, and delivery of images with
the click of a mouse.
- Use the new User Input Driver in Flow for image-assisted data entry and
batch indexing and tagging of documents and images.
- Purchase the separate ActiveX toolkit to develop image-enabled applications. The ImgEdit,
ImgAdmin, ImgThumb, ImgScan, ImgOCR
and ImgPDF OCX (ActiveX)
controls (compatible with the Kodak/Wang controls) are available to allow you to add Imaging for Windows
functionality to your software.
Use Imaging for Windows “out of the box” to improve
productivity for individuals, work groups, and entire organisations, or leverage
its powerful ActiveX controls or the Server Access COM object to create robust
custom applications with embedded imaging capabilities. G360 Imaging for
Windows ActiveX controls allow developers to add imaging capabilities to
software that supports ActiveX, including Visual Basic, Visual Basic 2005 and Visual C++ programs.
Global 360
Imaging for Windows is an enhanced version of the Imaging application that
was included in
Microsoft Windows prior to Windows XP.
For Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista users seeking the familiar Kodak Imaging for Windows capabilities and for
developers who have used the ActiveX (OCX) controls to integrate imaging functionality
within applications, Imaging for Windows is for you.
Imaging
for Windows makes it easy for you to find, print, photocopy, and distribute
paper-based documents. The desktop scanning feature replaces manual data entry;
the annotation feature does away with paper memos and stick-on notes and replaces endless
photocopying and distribution.
