Simplifies your office routines
ScanSnap defines the Fujitsu way that an efficient
document scanner for
the office professional's personal everyday use should
look like. The idea is simple: just enable easy scanning of
typical office documents at any time, without the burden of additional
work. ScanSnap uses a specially developed method of
driving the scanning device. Actually, the "normal“ scanning process
is totally reversed.
Using ScanSnap you just insert a stack of paper and
press a button to
initiate the scan process. This will automatically create and
store a PDF file and hand it over to Adobe Acrobat. Using the
same method, you can just as easily create fully searchable PDF
files, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets or even PowerPoint slides. Since all this is automatically achieved
within
just seconds to a visibly high quality standard, any user will
utilise this scanner every single day when office documents need
to be transformed into an electronic format. Instantly, even piles
of documents on top of office desks begin to vanish…
ScanSnap
Manager and Adobe Acrobat Standard
ScanSnap is controlled by ScanSnap Manager. This genuine
Fujitsu driver package eliminates traditional TWAIN
or ISIS driver techniques, thus enabling access to the
scanner without time consuming and complex settings with
every scan. At the same time the ScanSnap Manager package
allows for more sophisticated operations if desired.
The user can
fully adapt the ScanSnap functionality to his
preferences and needs. Some of the advanced settings that can
individually be defined
within ScanSnap Manager are:
• Different scanning profiles can be pre-defined
(target application,
simplex/duplex, colour or b/w, image quality, target
directory). They are stored for easy two-click access.
• The user can opt to have a dialog box pop up after scanning, where
he can assign a specific file name and destination folder
to the PDF file.
•
Automatically or case-by-case the PDF file created by ScanSnap
can be assigned a password that locks out anybody
unauthorised trying to access the file.
Combining ScanSnap and the full version of Adobe Acrobat
Standard 7.0 in one package
enables simplifying and speeding up
a vast number of typical office tasks, even to the extent of team
collaboration. |

ScanSnap One-Button
characteristics
Scanning speed and resolution
ScanSnap scans documents with speeds of up to 18 pages per minute
at 150 dpi. The user can choose higher resolution of up to
600 optical dpi, making ScanSnap the PDF scanner of choice when
on top of pure document scanning, non-professional colour
graphic scanning is requested.
Automatic colour detection
ScanSnap recognizes whether a paper document is coloured or
monochrome. It creates and stores the PDF file accordingly in
the related colour format. This helps minimise the storage capacity,
which can then be further reduced by choosing automatic file
compression to be applied.
Scanning irregular sized document formats
In addition to standard portrait formats (A6 to A4), the user of ScanSnap
can define “irregular” formats that thereafter are automatically
recognized (width min. 50,8 mm, max. 216 mm; length
min. 50,8 mm, max. 360 mm). Even formats up to the size
of A3 can be scanned with ScanSnap when folded and inserted
into the ScanSnap carrier sheet. After scanning both sides
of the carrier sheet, ScanSnap automatically rebuilds the original
format (image stitching).
Scan piles of paper in one batch
The automatic document feeder holds up to 50 sheets of paper (80g/m2)
and feeds them one by one in a continuous process. You
can choose to have ScanSnap store all pages in one single file
or alternatively create multiple files consisting of one single page
each.
Scan front and back in one single pass
ScanSnap is capable of capturing both sides of a document at the
same time the paper passes the duplex scanning zone. For this
purpose ScanSnap is equipped with two separate CCD cameras.
Automatic
blank page detection
Since ScanSnap automatically recognises colour from black and white
pages and eliminates blank pages, each scanning job progresses smoothly,
even when scanning combinations of one and two-sided
documents. Of course the option of automatic blank page
deletion can be disabled to keep multi-page documents in their
original order.
Automatic page rotation
On pages containing text elements, ScanSnap recognises the document
orientation and rotates individual pages automatically to
be displayed correctly. This even works with mixed document
batches containing both portrait and landscape formats.
Auto-deskew
Depending on their size, documents inserted at an angle or documents
that are skewed (often the case with copies) are automatically
re-aligned. This often improves the image quality over
that of the original document.
