Imaging for Windows
document imaging software is available from Alliance Group.
Imaging for Windows is the document scanning and imaging software that was
included with Microsoft Windows 95 through to Windows 2000. It was not
included in Windows XP or Windows Vista. Imaging for Windows was originally developed by Wang
and subsequently became the property of Kodak and now Global 360. Windows
XP and Vista do not include a free version of Imaging for Windows, and free versions
from older operating systems may not be installed upon it.
Imaging for Windows from Global360
Imaging for Windows® transforms paper documents into
electronic documents that you can view, edit, OCR, distribute via e-mail, post
to and download from the Internet. Imaging for Windows provides
industry-standard imaging included with Microsoft® Windows 95/98, Windows NT
and Windows 2000.
Imaging for Windows is not included in Microsoft Windows XP
The Kodak Imaging for Windows program and
the related controls (ImgScan.ocx, ImgAdmin.ocx, ImgEdit.ocx, and ImgThumb.ocx)
are not included with Microsoft Windows XP or Windows Vista.
You must now
purchase an Imaging for Windows licence separately. You cannot legally install an older version
of Wang/Kodak/Microsoft Imaging for Windows on Windows XP or Vista.
Global 360 Imaging for Windows is the upgrade
to the Imaging software included in Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME and Windows
NT/2000 and is suitable for use with Microsoft Windows XP.
Imaging for Windows reduces the manual entry and re-entry, printing, photocopying,
and distribution of paper-based documents common to most day-to-day work.
Desktop scanning and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) replace manual entry; annotation does
away with paper memos and stick on notes.
Use Imaging for Windows “out of the box” to improve productivity for
individuals, work groups, and entire organizations, or leverage its powerful
ActiveX controls to create robust custom applications with embedded imaging
capabilities. Imaging for Windows ActiveX controls allow developers to add
imaging capabilities to programs that support ActiveX, including Visual Basic
and Visual C++.
Imaging for Windows also provides the ability to develop software using
ActiveX tools. Each copy includes the Kodak/Wang Imaging OCX (ActiveX) controls.
The ImgEdit,
ImgAdmin, ImgThumb, ImgScan and ImgOCR controls are provided. These
tools allow you to add Imaging for Windows
functionality to your software.
