WorkFolder for Microsoft Exchange (WFX) adds comprehensive,
out-of-the-box collaborative features to Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft
Exchange. With WFX, you can accomplish complex business tasks by quickly
and intuitively organising and tracking the work documents and processes
around them that are required for success.
WFX allows you to:
- Use WorkFolders, the electronic equivalent of manila folders, in
your Microsoft Outlook inbox or share them with others in Microsoft
Exchange public folders.
- Manage work with project-like workflow by tracking progress,
assigning tasks, and setting deadlines that are automatically sent to
assignees.
- Create templates to standardise case folder content, behavior, and
management practices.
- Create placeholders for linking or embedding documents.
- Include documents that can be images, Microsoft Office files, mail
messages, multimedia, or links to content in other repositories such
as web sites.
- Customise WorkFolder instances or publish templates out-of-the-box.
- Scale easily from a small group to the entire enterprise.
- Work on the same work item simultaneously, both on line and off
line.
WFX supports a rapid application development environment in addition to
its powerful customisation capabilities. The robust event and data model
is accessible within a WorkFolder using VBScript and JavaScript hosting
capabilities or via a COM Automation interface.
WFX is typically used in conjunction with Imaging
for Windows.
